Nordprint’s historic expertise in folding, gluing and edge turning has allowed it to provide media centres and libraries with its finishing skills to bind and strengthen new and used books.

Our service includes collecting the books, defining binding types depending on the quality of the book and how it is used, strengthening and binding, and returning books to the library.

• Affixing code and security tag if needed (on the spine for hardbacks, randomly between two pages for manga and paperbacks).
• Applying a flexible plastic film with 1.5 to 2cm overlap, 45° cut at the corners
• Fitting joints

• Pulling the original cover and cutting into 3 parts: 2 boards, 1 spine
• Guillotining (trimming) the book’s spine to remove old adhesive
• Sawing-in the spine
• Preparing endpapers
• Double fan adhesive binding
• Applying muslin to the spine then re-gluing
• Affixing a security tag or RFID if requested
• Gluing fabric to the spine (2cm overlap on each side)
• Gluing and mounting cover boards and spine to the book block
